![]() Synthesizing an Additional Item onto a Base Item also causes the Additional Item itself to be consumed, like if it was "absorbed" by the Base Item. The Synthesis Slot is another way of referring to the "Synthesis Limit": saying that an item "has a Synthesis Limit of 10" and saying that an item "has 10 Synthesis Slots" is the same, but the second expression helps formulating some concepts a little more clearly. When you synthesize an Additional Item onto a Base Item you always "consume" one "Synthesis Slot". In a case like this, the Lightning Sword is most certainly a worse weapon than the Laser Sword to customize, because the potential bonuses of a higher Synthesis Limit and more free Factors on the Laser Weapon are much higher than the default better Stats of the Lightning Sword. However, the Lightning Sword only has a Synthesis Limit of 4, and it also has two Factors occupied. ![]() In this case you can see a massive difference of ATK in favour of the Lightning Sword the INT doesn't really matter since it's a weapon for Edge, a melee character. The choice is less obvious when you compare the Laser Weapon with something like the Lightning Sword (4 Synthesis Slots, 2,100 ATK, 2/4 Factors). Of course if you compare the Laser Weapon (16 Synthesis Limit, 900 ATK, 600 INT, 0/4 Factors) with the Workman's Blade (16 Synthesis Limit, 22 ATK, 0/4 Factors) the Stats tell you that the Laser Weapon is a better choice than the Workman's Blade. This is not very true for the Wrist Accessory, since the Synthesis Limit of 8 of the tri-Emblum will more than compensate (in the most advanced customization, for the ultimate wrist accessory) for its poor default Factor (HIT +2).įor Weapons and Armor, among the parameters influenced by Item Synthesis the Stats of the Base Item are usually the least important Factor, relatively speaking. Moreover the Neck/Wrist Accessories always have one Factor minimum by default, so it's their default Factor which usually makes you decide which accessory you should choose. The Weapons and Armor offer the highest variability, while the Neck Accessories and Wrist Accessories all have such a low Synthesis Limit (from 2 to 4 except the tri-Emblum which has 8 as Synthesis Limit) that it's pointless to have preferences. A good piece of equipment is an item that has a high value of Synthesis Limit, as high Stats as possible, and as few Factors as possible. It ranges from 1 to 16Įvery piece of equipment has its advantages and disadvantages, and not all the equippable items are as good as they look at first. Synthesis Limit: this parameter indicates how many times you can use this specific piece of equipment as Base Item in synthesis. Every piece of equipment can be filled with a total of four Factors between the default ones (which range from 0 to 4) and those that you add via Item Synthesis "Grants Immunity to Poison" and "Increases Critical Hit chance" are examples of Factors. Factors: these are the additional "bonuses" (sometimes maluses) attached. Note that Weapons do not have Elemental Resistances In addition to this, it's also correct to consider the Elemental Resistances as Stats. There are five primary stats: ATK, INT, DEF, HIT, GRD. Statistics (Stats): these are the parameters given by that piece of equipment. ![]() The Additional/Synthesis Item is the item that you add to the Base Item, and can be pretty much any object in the game (there are almost 800 possible items to add).Įach piece of equipment (each Base Item) has at least three elements that are involved in Item Synthesis: The Base Item is the piece of equipment that you want to modify: it can be a Weapon, Armor, a Neck Accessory, a Wrist Accessory in other words, any equippable item (the "Traveler's Cloak" Armor and the 147 "monster jewel" Neck Accessories can't be used as Base Items). ![]() Item Synthesis is made up of two elements: the Base Item and the Additional Item (the latter is also referred to as "Synthesis Item"). Item Synthesis is fundamentally a way to modify and customize your equipment. Synthesis becomes available as an option only about midway through Disc Two, when the eighth character of the party, the one with the Field Skill "Synthesis", joins the group. Item Synthesis is a feature available in the Calnus at the same terminal that you use to access the Item Creation system. Considering the size of the list, it's strongly advisable to use the CTRL+F search function of your browser to find what you need in this page. ![]()
